Bicycle Commuter Act

The Bicycle Commuter Act (H.R.807, S.2635) is before the U.S. congress right now.
Here's how it'll work if passed into law: The bill provides a tax benefit to employers who offer cash reimbursements to employees to defray costs of riding to work. All it requires is an amendment to the Transportation Fringe Benefit of the taxcode to extend the definition of "transportation" to include bicycles. Employers are given the flexibility to set their level of benefit payments, and the bike commuter can use the money to pay for a bicycle, accessories, safety equipment, insurance, and locker or shower fees. Sweater

Yay! I finally finished it! Once I started training, the sweater fell by the wayside. It sat in pieces, sadly waiting to be seamed for weeks. It's not perfect, the back of the neck hangs too low, but for my first finished sweater, it's just fine.

Joke's On Us

What a tease!

Not only did daylight savings time come early this year, disrupting our sleep patterns and granting us that extra lovely hour of daylight in which to train, but then came Wednesday! I couldn’t believe it was almost 70 degrees, even though it was overcast! In disbelief, I still rode in booties, wool socks, tights, hat, trusty Craft base layer, etc.

I should have known that as soon as I hung up my skis and snowshoes Mother Nature would laugh. As soon as I started to get into the rhythm of training, she would remind me that I live in New England.

Burning jealously heats me as I read reports of fast chicks racing in places like California and El Salvador. If only it would melt this snow.

From snow to bike!

Yeah, I know this blog has been neglected far too long. It needs to be totally revamped. Stay tuned, I'll get to it soon...

I'm off the ski slopes and hiking trails now, and on the bike everyday. I have a great cycling team this year, and my motivation to train is back in a big way.

Here are some pics from a few weeks ago. Snowshoeing from the top of Cannon Mtn down past Lonesome Lake. What a dumping of snow!!

Ward taught me to telemark, too. Forget weightlifting... try lunging on skis all day! Holy crap! I was soooo sore for the next few days!

Okay, off to bed....
